October 31, 2021February 2, 2023 by Surfing Airplanes

Are you searching for brunch places in Malibu with good food and a stunning view? Then you are in the right place! We’ve listed below 5 places that you have to visit while staying in Malibu. Keep reading and see the bonus tip!

When talking about Malibu, in California, it is hard not to be dazzled. This beach town manages to bring together beautiful landscapes and a lot of glamor.

Nicknamed “The Bu” by surfers, the city is the darling of those who seek good waves, culture, and also good food. No wonder, since it is located in the state of California and in Los Angeles County.

With an area of 256.68 km², only 51.40 km² is dry land. Therefore, we can already think of a small city, but with a lot of vigor. Besides facing beautiful beaches, its green hills and trails also yield high doses of adventure.

The city is home to an infinite number of tribes, cultures and lifestyles. This means that there is no shortage of places to enjoy great food. Whether for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or even brunch. Since brunch is the perfect choice for vacations, isn’t it?

Brunch is a meal that combines breakfast and lunch. It is perfect for lazy days or special celebrations. It is also ideal for eating quietly and watching a special view of a beach or a pulsating city.

In this article, we tell you the 5 brunch places in Malibu you have to go to.

1. Duke Malibu

This seaside-themed Hawaiian restaurant seeks out 300 amazing windows using the Pacific Ocean view.

Are you in Duke Malibu? Then, we recommend you start with palm-fringed tables and a sandy floor. This ambience will bring you to Maui, and you will feel like you’re in Maui.

Now, once in the restaurant, start your experience with their delicious back ribs of a slightly roasted mango, shiny coconut shrimp with a dipped lilikoi sauce and ahi poke tacos.

Their specialty relies on fresh Hawaiian fish, such as mahi-mahi.

The buffet brunch includes a Hawaiian-style ceviche, ham, fish, and omelets made to order.

Oh, and don’t forget to try their most popular hula pie! It is made with macadamia nut ice cream in an oreo cookie crust.

2. Geoffrey’s

Sitting on the love hill of Malibu, Geoffrey’s offers a spectacular view of the curved coast of Southern California, and a flower-lined courtyard that is a great place for a candlelight dinner or Sunday brunch with your loved ones.

However, as Geoffrey’s brings too many people to try their delicious menu, don’t think about driving to the restaurant without booking.

Are you going there? Then, try their Challah French Toast, Lobster Quiche and their Crab Cake Benedict.

I recommend you opt for their Grilled Filet Mignon or grilled seafood scallops with marine lobster risotto for lunch.

3. Gjelina

First-time booking is fast approaching Gjelina at the Abbot Kinney Boulevard fashion and venue in Venice.

When you enter in this restaurant, you will find 2 large public tables in the center, a large bar at the back, and tables near the walls.

We highly recommend you stay in the outdoor balcony, where the fireplace, white tiles and kitchen look give the space a luxury, bohemian twist.

Start with fresh oysters, wood-roasted cauliflower, continue with large plates such as their Mary’s Chicken & Duck Liver Pate on Baguette, Mustard Frill.

The wood-burning oven opens to light and shiny pizzas with ingredients such as mixed mushrooms, rosemary and garlic oil, parmesan, mozzarella, confit tomatoes, rapeseed, pecorino, and asiago.

The short wine list prefers French selection and there are also 4 local beers at the tap and a few Belgian ale bottles.

4.  J. Nichols

J. Nichols was completely renovated in 2011, adding a sophisticated dining room and a high level of service.

Old and uncomfortable chairs in the formerly empty coffee shop have been replaced by high-backed plush booths and modern wood accents, which brought a new sophisticated air to this restaurant.

Seasonal ingredients and modern style influenced J. Nichols’ menu. For lunch and dinner, guests can indulge in pizzas, bone-in prime pork chop and maple apple glaze.

However, the breakfast menu is the reason people go to J. Nichols

Try the Benedict Marina, which incorporates 2 egg towers cooked in English muffins, stuffed with spinach, avocado, tomato and a simple hollandaise style. It’s delicious!

The thick and layered guajillo sauce strikes the palate with smoke, pepper, and a little sweetness to enhance the flavor of a typical plate of huevos rancheros.

Don’t forget to save room for the chocolate cake almost free of flour.

Their happy hour happens from Monday to Friday afternoon and offers beers and wines at a fair price, and it’s an excellent place to hang out with your friends.

5. James’ Beach

James’ Beach is fun and festive, you are going to love its beautiful balcony in front.

The chef, Jorge Valines, presents dishes such as New York Steak with cabernet reduction sauce and lamp wrapped cassoulet.

Its menu comprises a variety of seafood, sushi, and wines, which play an essential role in this restaurant.

6. Lily’s Malibu

Lily’s Malibu is a stunning and unique location that offers visitors a chance to experience the best of what California has to offer. The scenery is breathtaking, the amenities are top-notch, and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful.

I highly recommend Lily’s Malibu to anyone looking for an amazing vacation spot.

7. Geoffrey’s

Geoffrey’s Malibu is one of Southern California’s most popular and well-known beach bars.

The bar was founded in 1977 by Geoffrey Smith, and has been a staple of the Los Angeles party scene ever since.

Located on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, Geoffrey’s is known for its beautiful oceanfront setting, delicious cocktails, and fun atmosphere.

Frequented by celebrities and locals alike, Geoffrey’s is the perfect place to enjoy a sunny day or a night out on the town.

Extra – and marvelous – tip: Malibu Farm

We couldn’t leave out the classic Malibu pier cafe: Malibu Farm.

This perfect place values fresh and organic ingredients and offers everything in a very careful and tasty way. The inside is charming, well decorated and cozy. The outside, on the other hand, looks like you are sitting in the ocean.

The menu? Some breakfast classics, like eggs, waffles and sandwiches, and super healthy juice options. Perfect to start the day!

Pay attention because this is not the first cafe, but the one at the end of the pier. And I am sure you will not want this unique and typically Californian experience.
