People who travel to Australia are certainly looking for beautiful beaches. Coogee Beach is one of them. Today we’re going to discover things to do in Coogee Beach, the paradise of golden sands.
Australia’s coastline is one of its greatest attractions. The country has idyllic beaches, coral reefs, and an inviting climate for surfing, diving, and enjoying days of sun and sea.
One beach that stands out on the Australian coast is Coogee Beach, located 20 minutes from the center of Sydney, on the famous Coastal Walkway, which stretches from Bondi Beach to Maroubra Beach. This beach is known for its crystal clear waters, a protected marine reserve, and its natural pools.
It is not the ideal place for surfers, Bondi Beach is better for that. But, it’s a great beach to dive, relax, and enjoy a hot day at sea.
Coogee Beach is medium in size, has slightly icy water, and has a long stretch of sand all the way to the sea. It has lifeguards, public showers, a park, and a boardwalk that are great for sitting, enjoying the sea, or taking a walk.
The beach has a surprising stretch of golden sand and several green parks for picnics. The beach is ideal for the practice of sports such as surfing, snorkeling, and scuba. It is a point for both families and the more adventurous.
In addition, Coogee Beach is protected by a rocky island called Wedding Cake, which makes it an ideal swimming beach for families and a quieter option than nearby Maroubra Beach.
A nice story to know is that the name Coogee is derived from the aboriginal word koojah, which means stinky place. This is because of the number of algae that can accumulate on the beach. But, to deal with this, there is a daily beach cleaning by Randwick City Council staff to keep the beach in top condition all year round.
You can access the beach by car or public transport. Once there, leisure options abound. Read on to discover things to do in Coogee Beach.
